Greg Hewlett passed away on January 17th after nearly eight years of battling colon cancer. While we grieve his loss, we are comforted to know that he is with his Lord.

Motivation for this site
Thanks, Rollin and Mark, for setting me up with this site. Many people have inquired about my situation, so I asked Mark to set up a place where I can put information. My primary reason for doing this is simple � I am desperate for people to pray for me, and I hope this will assist and encourage my friends and family in doing just that. It is also here because I would like to share my thoughts in the hope that others might find in them some ways to deal with their own sufferings in this world. Finally, with no other confidence but in my king, Jesus, I know that something beautiful will come from this. And I want to declare this beauty to the world.

We have never met, but I know of you and Christine through my cousin Carl. My wife Joy and I successfully struggled through her breast cancer a couple of years ago and the prayers we received from everyone helped enormously. We strongly feel the prayers and uplifting support from friends and family keeps you focused on love of God and Jesus's promise of help from prayer. Keep your thoughts on the future. We are with you in Christ.

As a chronic illness patient (not so patient) of 20 years, I too write for personal reasons and am glad to see that you are doing the same. I believe it is the only thing that we can possibly give to the generation that will never know us.
We are deeply hurt in each generation by the lack of communication with or significant knowledge of our fore-fathers. I think of the generations before the flood in which someone known to Noah, could well have known Adam. I am offended that there is no possibility of two way communication between numerous generations, and so it is important to at least have one way communication.
I once heard some one say (whose name I don't recall) that in writing, we can confront our most discomforting fears. God wrote, and so we write. If the nihlists were right, there would be nothing to write. Every joy and sorrow know to the generations of men would be nothing but a massive cosmic joke, total and absurd despair.
Without the hope of the resurrection, we are of all men most to be pitied. Because He rose, so shall we. The Spirit that raised Jesus Christ will raise us, in whom that Spirit dwells.
God spoke. God wrote.
When asked why I believe the Bible to be that Word and Christ to be the pure Embodiment of God's speech, I can only answer in the same vein of the men that were sent to arrest Jesus: "No man ever spoke like this man". No one ever wrote like God has written. He has written on stone tablets. He has written on this once stoney heart.

Just wanted to send you a note and let you know that the cutover has been made. It occurred to me this evening that due to the way I have been doing DNS dynamically, I can point it to the new server without waiting for Mark to change anything. That means (hopefully) when he makes the change, it will also be seamless, as it will be the same IP address in the old and new records as the change propagates.
Anyhow, let me know if you have any problems, and let me know if you get this email so I will know if the email function is working properly!
