Rest beside the weary road

And ye, beneath lifes crushing load, whose forms are bending low,
Who toil along the climbing way with painful steps and slow,
Look now! for glad and golden hours come swiftly on the wing.
O rest beside the weary road, and hear the angels sing!

It Came Upon A Midnight Clear, Edmund Sears, 1849

That's exactly the verse that struck me at the Christmas Eve service tonight, Greg.

God knew before time that a verse written in 1849 would be sent by e-mail to our home to inspire thoughts of "glad and golden hours". The author could not have conceived of such a legacy.
I love the words "golden hours". An hour seems more valuable since Bert's osteosarcoma trial; I'm going to share with her that a Mr. Sears expressed how I feel about each hour with her, and Greg, you made that possible on Christmas Eve of 2004. Thank you.
Love in Christ, Bruce (& Bert)

Michael Card was quoted in our order of worship for last night: [to paraphrase] What’s so amazing about Christmas is that, in the last place you would expect to find something you want, you find everything you could ever want.

It looks like I'm not the only one to find ringing truth in Christmas carol lyrics. I have been amazed over the years reading these lyrics.
